Spending 1 Hour in Singapore's Least Used Park*

Spending 1 Hour in Singapore's Least Used Park*
So as part of the Month of Change, I began doing a 1.5-hour walk daily and as part of the walk, I wanted to explore different parts of the country whilst making it home in time. One such occasion was a casual walk down Upper Paya Lebar Road and behind a huge overhead bridge sits what I think is Singapore's Least Used and Smallest Park that title goes to...

Before we get into the details, notice how I placed a convenient asterisk in the title. So to just clarify, this is a small park but there are other possible contenders obviously. If you go online and search "Singapore Smallest Park", the answer you'll get is Vanda Miss Joaquim Park in the heart of Singapore. But I believe my candidate for this category is way smaller. Next up, the park I have nominated is an Interim Park, there are at least 5 Interim Parks in Singapore, all of which are quite small in size. I know there are at least 4 in the east and another 2 in the north but after some online research, I still think my contender is the best. So the park that I believe is the smallest and least used is Interim Park along Upper Paya Lebar Road.

Spending 1 Hour at Interim Park - Upper Paya Lebar Road
Interim Park along Upper Paya Lebar Road has a total area of 119m² and a total walkable area of roughly 82m². The park's facilities include a whopping 3 lampposts, 2 benches (even with Social Distancing tape on it), a very muddy drain and 2 entrances, one towards the main pavement and another out on the Overhead Bridge. So as to simplify and shortened this long article, enter the following coordinates onto Google Maps for a great view of the park. > 1.343614, 103.882462

So what is there to see? The simple answer, nothing. But here are some pictures.

So if you ever want to visit (which you should, I guess), here are some facts about Interim Park as of 11 June 2021.

Fact #1 - Between the park and the overhead bridge there are small yellow markers. These markers mark the boundary of the park and the roadway.

Fact #2 - As of 11 June 2021, the current Google Satellite View on Maps and Earth is outdated (its in the 2019 edition) So if you check it out now, the park is still under construction! With this information, the park is probably about 2 years old.

Fact #3 - Head online and search for this park and you will realise that this park doesn't exist. No information about the park has ever been stated online at all.

Fact #4 - On the main entrance, there is an electricity box but to access the box, you need to jump and climb over a metal fence.

Fact #5 - The bus stop at the bottom of the park has two advertising posters on each side of the park rather than the usual one

The National Parks Suggestion
And finally my suggestions on how to improve the park. I have a few suggestions but if anyone reading knows a friend or family member or anyone who works at NEA or National Parks, you are welcome to share my suggestions.

Suggestion #1 - Allow for easy accessibility to the park's poor electricity box. I know this doesn't affect the quality of your experience but it would help massively with the role of a poor technician or anyone else.

Suggestion #2 - Widen the park and add more facilities. Whilst walking to this Interim Park, I stumbled upon another Interim Park next to Lorong Ong Lye which had more trees and exercising facilities. Add some of those and it will massively enhance the experience.

Suggestion #3 - Seeing that there are two advertising posters at the bus stop as mentioned under Fact #5, we can convert one of the two posters as a poster inviting people to Interim Park.

Please do visit Interim Park. Let's bring those numbers up!

    Happy Reading!
Happy Father's Day!
